You will learn about nutrition during your pregnancy and how it affects your labor, stages of labor, and what to do for both momma and her husband, significant other, or support person during those stages.
You will also learn how to deal with contractions, positioning of momma and baby before and during labor, all the different medication options and how to reduce their risks, c-sections, how to push very effectively, and how to communicate with your care provider.

The Basic Childbirth Class covers everything you need to know from non-medicated births to scheduled caesarian births and everything in between all in one fun, fast-paced weekend.
The Advanced Childbirth Class is for moms that want an unmedicated birth either at home or in a hospital. Prerequisites: Attending a childbirth education class (NOT a hospital class) OR laboring with a previous birth.

Childbirth education is so important for any expecting mom and her husband or partner. We lead very busy lives and live in such a busy area, sometimes it is best to get all the great information in just one weekend. This way, you do not need to go through the hassle of changing your schedule for several weeks in a row and driving through all the Northern Virginia traffic.
Also, consider taking the class in your second trimester instead of waiting until the end when you are exhausted and very likely trying to accomplish a number of other tasks (nesting). You will be able to put the information into action right away and use all the many resources you will get from this class to help make your pregnancy even more enjoyable.
My childbirth classes are not your boring run-of-the-mill, typical hospital classes, and I am not your Charlie Brown style of teacher either.
Life is too short to not enjoy it along the way. Having a baby, no matter what the circumstances, is such an exciting and wonderful time of life, we might as well have fun preparing for it.
